Blogger Dorobek (CreatingReallyAwesomeFreeThings.com) presents a series of tutorials for kid-friendly crafts using common household items such as empty cans, paper plates, cardboard toilet paper rolls, and coffee filters. Classics such as paper-plate shakers and straw necklaces appear alongside newer crafts, including tie-dye nail polish, emoji masks, and candy wrapper and duct tape zip pouches. The directions are simple and straightforward, supplies are inexpensive and accessible, and crafting tips (including suggestions for clean-up and variations on projects) are presented throughout. Kids will appreciate the tidbits of trivia. Many of the projects are preschooler-friendly with some minor assistance, and all are appropriate for school-age children, with a few that may appeal to young teens. VERDICT Parents and caregivers looking for rainy-day projects will find a wealth of ideas in this collection--and they won't have to make a run to the craft store for supplies.
