Armed with a degree in journalism and home economics, she moved to Abilene where she worked at the Abilene Reflector Chronicle and later the Salina Journal. Eventually, she took up a career as a professional freelance writer and has since written for various travel magazines, travel guides, blogs, websites and newspapers. She enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.

captured/KANSAS DETAILS • “I captured this picture of my dad and his cattle coming home from our land-locked pasture in the Flint Hills. It can only be accessible by horseback and small ATV for loading cattle. I was visiting my parents with my family at the time. For the photo, I climbed on top of an oil rig with my baby strapped to the front of me and my daughter standing at my side. There’s a really large hill on one side that we weren’t able to climb because it was just too windy that day.”
